ASIC Maintenance: Keeping Your Miners Running

Dust, heat, firmware -- the essentials of keeping your mining hardware healthy and efficient.

Thermal management

ASIC miners run hot -- 60-75C is normal. Above 80C, hashboards start throttling and component life shortens. Proper ventilation, intake/exhaust management, and ambient temperature matter enormously. This is why professional facilities outperform home setups.

Dust and debris

Dust buildup on heatsinks and fans is the #1 cause of overheating. In a professional facility, air filtration and regular cleaning schedules prevent this. Home miners should clean fans and heatsinks every 3-6 months.

Firmware updates

Keep firmware current. Updates often include efficiency improvements, bug fixes, and new features. However, always research an update before applying it -- some third-party firmwares can void warranties or cause instability.

When to replace

Miners don't last forever. Typical useful life is 3-5 years. When your machine's efficiency falls significantly behind current-gen hardware, it's time to consider our trade-in program.
